Jan M. Walton

Executive Consultant

Jan M. Walton applies her talents and skills as an organizational development consultant to the effort for continuous learning and growth in the workplace. She brings over twenty-five years’ experience in organizational development, human resources management and inclusion training to the Symmetra team.

Jan specializes in work group process improvement, learning design, assessment and evaluation, and team development strategy. She has served international organizations, non-profit and public sector organizations, and businesses with customized approaches for improving performance. She has designed learning processes for a wide range of substantive and support functions, small to large employee size, managing projects independently as well as working within a team. Most of her recent work is for organization-wide initiatives where she provides expertise and thought leadership on training and development programs to embed an inclusive culture, human resources management initiatives, organizational development mechanisms, and team development and group process. The foundation of Jan’s consulting expertise is a strong background in human resources management and generalist experience in all HR functional areas.

Before consulting, Jan was Vice President for Human Resources and Administration at the U.S. Committee for UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund. Previous experience included human resources director, supervisory skills development specialist, and job design specialist for managerial and support positions. Jan has significant experience in design, facilitation and evaluation of learning tools at the United Nations, including the ethics program. Additionally, she led formulated of the 2021 Learning Strategy, as well as designing and facilitating many other United Nations projects.

Jan received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from The University of Michigan, Certificate in Training and Development from New York University, and Master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations/ Human Resources Management from Cornell University-Baruch College, all in the United States. She based in Tampa, Florida, and is fluent in English.
