Birth of Guru Nanak Dev

Born in 1469, Guru Nanak Dev founded Sikhism and was the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. He is also revered by Hindus and Sufis across the Indian subcontinent, and considered by many to be a Prophet who gave the world the gospel of love, goodwill and reconciliation. He believed in the equality of all humans, regardless of gender, and attracted followers from all faiths whom he addressed without discrimination.
