World AIDS Day

The first known case of HIV was recorded in 1985 and since then, the epidemic has spread from a few widely scattered ‘hot spots’ to virtually every country in the world. In 25 years, 65 million people have been infected with HIV and 25 million people have died. Every day, around 11,000 people are infected with the virus. The theme of this year’s World AIDS Day is ‘Leadership: Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise’ and wearing a red ribbon on this day signifies one’s support for the campaign.
